Australian psychedelic rock band Pond, stylized as POND, has announced a fall North American tour following a packed summer of making their rounds through the festival circuit including performances at Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Primavera. The fall tour is also ripe with more festival dates, beginning with Desert Daze Festival in California, hitting Treasure Island Festival along the way, and culminating in Miami for House of Creatives Festival. Along with the fall tour, the band dropped a new single, “Burnt Out Star,” which clocks in at over eight minutes long. The song feels reminiscent of a ballad at first before taking listeners along on a winding leisurely journey through a medley of hypnotic, spacey psychedelic sounds as it picks up and emerges into what seems like the middle of a jam session.
Their new single is the latest release of POND’s since their 2017 release, The Weather, the band’s seventh studio album which met wide critical acclaim. Over their career, the band has met both critic and fan appraisal, being called “The Hottest New Band in the World” by NME in 2012 after the release of Beard, Wives, Denim. POND was formed with the intention of being a collaborative project, even going on to share members both current and former with Tame Impala. Frontman of Tame Impala, Kevin Parker, played drums with POND briefly and was notably the producer of The Weather. POND consistently delivers with their live shows, bringing a palpable energy to the audience and not shying away from putting it all out on the stage. Don’t miss them as they make their way to Brooklyn this fall, performing at Elsewhere on their second to last stop on the tour.
