Russian Circles have begun writing their seventh full-length album, The PRP reports. Via Instagram last night, the band posted the image of studio and musical equipment with the simple caption, “#7 the writing begins.” The news prompted fans to rejoice with tim_pageler writing, “There is no other band that has ever enchanted and fascinated me as RC. (Except Guns N’ Roses in the early 1990s perhaps ;-)) I have countless records across many genres from the rock sector. But you are always an integral part of my daily music selection!”
The post-metal Chicago-based trio formed in 2004 and have released six studio albums including Enter (2006), Station (2008), Geneva (2009), Empros (2011), Memorial (2013) and Guidance (2016). Pitchfork says of the band’s 2016 effort, “even when Guidance gets complicated, there’s a more organic and unforced feel to it, as if songs were allowed to grow wild rather than carefully cultivated.”
During a 2016 interview with Culture Creation, the group spoke about perfectionism on Guidance, saying, “Each one of us – we wouldn’t settle for anything until we were truly happy. There was one delay pattern that I wasn’t totally comfortable with. I’d tell myself I was cool with it, and then I’d hear it back, and be like, ‘Kurt, I’m sorry man – it’s just not there for me yet. I’m not hearing it.’”
Russian Circles is set to embark on a fall 2018 tour with Chelsea Wolf starting September 23 in San Francisco, CA and ending October 9 in Tucson, AZ. Other stops include Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Diego and more.
