Avenged Sevenfold Cancels End of the World Tour After Singer M Shadows Was Struck Down With a Vocal Infection

It is never easy to hear bad news when it comes to your favorite artists. For fans of the heavy metal band, Avenged Sevenfold, they were hit hard with the devasting news. The band revealed today that they had no choice but to cancel their upcoming summer tour due to doctors orders that lead singer M. Shadows should rest his damaged vocal chords.

Avenged Sevenfold’s scheduled had the band starting their “End of the World” summer tour this weekend, July 22nd in Massachusettes with musical support from Prophets of Rage and Three Days Grace. As part of their tour, the band had appearances at the Impact Festival and Heavy Montreal.

It was after the band finished their European tour that Shadows was struck with a viral infection. As it got worse, there was no other option but to call off their upcoming North American tour in its entirety.

Shadows spoke out to his fans in a letter saying, “After our European tour, I came down with a terrible viral infection that rendered me voiceless. A blood blister has formed on my vocal folds and is preventing them from vibrating properly. Luckily, doctors feel that three months of no singing and voice rest should get my cords back on track.”

He apologizes for the short notice expressing that he did everything he could to get better. “Decisions like this weigh on me very heavily,” Shadows says. “It’s a tour I was looking forward to very much. I want to apologize to the fans who have spent their time and money booking travel arrangements and accommodations. I also want to apologize to our crew and the other bands who were depending on this tour.”

He added, “Please know that I’ve exhausted every possible solution trying to get out there and perform for you. It simply can’t happen at the moment. I’m deeply sorry and hope to see you all soon.”

In a little encouragement by the frontman, the band has some things coming in the future saying, “We have a few things coming down the pipe soon that should be fun, so we hope you look out for those.” So fans of the California based band that all hope is not lost.

Prophets of Rage went on their social media earlier today with their response to Avenged Sevenfold’s news. On their twitter page, the band had this to say.
