Last week, the Vans House Party Series announced a headlined and curated show by Blondie for this coming Friday. The series picks a headliner for each show who will also act as a curator for the night, allowing the band to choose any supporting talent and additional art or experiences to accompany the show. Long-time indie rocker Liz Phair will join Blondie as well as SASAMI, former Cherry Glazerr keyboardist. To add an extra element to the already stacked night, Blondie co-founder Chris Stein will feature an art installation from his upcoming photography book, Point of View: Me, New York City and the Punk Scene. Photographs from Stein’s intimate insider experience of the 1970’s New York City downtown punk scene will be on display, rounding out the truly unique night.
The historic punk rockers remain highly active as they make their stop in Brooklyn amid a summer tour of festivals such as Osheaga and Bumbershoot as well as two headlined shows at Los Angeles’s Microsoft Theater. Since their founding over 40 years ago, Blondie has put out 11 studio albums, 4 live albums, and 38 singles while achieving an estimated 40 million sold albums. The punk pioneers are still lauded for their essential, chart-topping staples like “Call Me,” “Heart of Glass,” and “The Tide is High.” Most recently, Blondie released their 11th studio album, Pollinator, featuring collaborations with popular artists like Charlie XCX and Sia. Blondie continues to impress and awe listeners with their incredible roster of songs, their unstoppable energy, and the legacy impressed upon punk and new wave music.
For Vans House Party shows, admission is free on a first come, first serve basis after RSVPing to the show. More information can be found here.
