DeVotchKa Announces New Album This Night Falls Forever for August 2018 Release and Shares New Song “Straight Shot”

Elbow headline at The Greek with a 2 hour set

DeVotchka is a one in a million group of musicians that have been releasing brilliant music since their start as an accompanying band for a burlesque theatre. Although it has been quite a while since their last album, the musical gods have finally graced us with some new music from DeVotchka that comes alongside the announcement of a new album. Even better, their new song “Straight Shot” has a lyric video the help us along. Check it out below.

The song begins with music similar to mariachi music, but with a modern twist. A fun guitar line plays above some acoustic guitar, drums, and bass. Singing starts and the sweetly unique vocals flow through like thick velvet. As the vocals take over, small pieces of paper art accompany the yellow text showing the lyrics of the song. The chorus quiets down a bit, which brilliantly allows the singing to take center stage before going back into the verses.

About halfway through the song an even more fun little guitar line plays with our hearts as a smile spreads across the music.

This new song by DeVotchka is an amazing return from their long hiatus and even more so as it is a perfect summer jam. To make this new album even more exciting, DeVotchka will also be going on tour beginning in late August. Check the dates below.

Jeremy Bacharach: Born in Los Angeles, CA, Jeremy has always been a lover of music. After graduating Hamilton High School with a focus in technical theatre, Jeremy ventured forth to Portland, Oregon so as to study at Lewis and Clark College. After bouncing around majors, he decided to focus on music composition and theory for the purpose of understanding why he loves what he loves. Aside from his major studies in composition, Jeremy also partook in sutdying Jazz Guitar, choir, and piano for the pure joy (and the requirements). Being able to write about what has become the main focus in his life only brings more joy to Jeremy as he is extrmely grateful to be a part of mxdwn!
