Rage Against The Machine Hit Right Wing Pundit Nigel Farage with Cease and Desist for His “Farage Against The Machine” Podcast

For some reason, many republicans or right-wingers seem to be into the not-so-right-winged band Rage Against the Machine with Paul Ryan being some of the more outspoken fans. Even more so, since march, a podcast based in the United Kingdom uses the band’s name in it’s own variation; calling the show “Farage Against the Machine.”

Now, according to Pitchfork, the aforementioned band is not too happy with this use of their name. In fact, they have sent the podcast a cease and desist letter  claiming it has “unlawfully [exploited]” the name Rage Against the Machine and its moniker. They also sent this letter due to the beliefs of the show as it is a very right-winged show that has been broadcasting on the UK conservative radio station LBC.

The letter states:

“As you should know, RATM has publicly denounced the type of right-wing ideology you espouse for decades. Your anti-immigrant rhetoric, lack of social compassion and barely disguised racism and xenophobia are the antithesis of RATM stands for. Thus, your surprising attempt to associate yourself with RATM is wholly inappropriate and completely inexplicable, unless it’s part of some kind of bizarre cleansing ritual. Whatever the motivation, please stop. Stop using RATM’s name and logo, change the name of your podcast and find some other target to troll. We suggest President Trump.”

Not only is this a brilliant piece of writing, but they also used the cease and desist letter to take a nice left swing at our own United States politics.

Rage Against the Machine is a Los Angeles rock band formed in 1991 with Zack de la Rocha on vocals, Tim Commerford on bass and backing vocals, Tom Morello on guitar, and Brad Wilk on drums. Since the start of their career, RATM has been nominated for around 14 different awards, winning five from various award ceremonies such as the Grammys, MTV VMAs, NME Awards amongst others.

In 2016, the band formed an incredible supergroup called Prophets of Rage that included artists such as Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill. RATM is currently still on hiatus, but their music never sleeps, so if you haven’t listened to them, there’s no better time than the present.
