Beak> Announce New Album >>> for September 2018 Release

You may have seen our previous article on the legendary Beak> in which they debuted a funky new instrumental alongside a performance video. Now, as noted through Consequence of Sound, Beak has announced a new album that will see the light of day this coming September. The album, following up their past release >>, has brilliantly, and kind of humorously, is naming the follow up >>>, adding a third beak to the new album title. The album will feature ten songs that were written and recorded in Bristol over the last year. Check out their second release from the soon-to-be-released follow-up below.

Titled “Brean Down,” the single begins with a dissonance of synth and and bass while a steady beat rolls below. An almost guitar sounding distortion breaks through the sound, fading out in a delay before Beak begins to sing alongside the melody and rhythm of the bass. A chorus comes in and a small strum of notes comes in on a guitar while the vocals jump up in range. Unlike their past release, “Allé Sauvage,” “Brean Down” gives a sense of a more complete ‘song’ in the conventional sense. While the first release to the new album was purely minimalist and instrumental featuring disco drums, a synth, and bass, this song has more of a song structure in that there are vocals, verses and a chorus. This new single, though, does still have elements of the old beak as the outro plays an incredible dirty and rough musical section full of excitement and energy. Though this is a step in a different direction, Beak definitely does it in style.
