Alvvays @ Warsaw 9/26 – 9/28

The Canadian indie pop five-piece, Alvvays, makes their way to Brooklyn this September after adding a third show due to high demand. After a summer of festivals, including major stops like Governors Ball, Latitude, and Osheaga, Alvvays proves they don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon as they tack on extra dates around the US. The band will perform in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York before their stint at Austin City Limits in October. The Toronto rockers released their sophomore album, Antisocialites, in 2017 featuring singles like “Dreams Tonite” and “In Undertow.” Frontwoman, Molly Rankin, describes their dreamy, psychedelic tunes as genre-bending, saying, “If old people ask, I say it sounds like the Cranberries. If young people ask, I call it jangle pop. If a punk asks, I say it’s pop.”

Rankin’s musical roots run deep as the daughter of John Morris Rankin, fiddler and member of the Celtic folk family collective, the Rankin Family. Alvvays worked tirelessly to get their demos out to the public before getting signed, promoting at festivals and concerts until their single, “Adult Diversion,” in combination with their strong SXSW performance caught the attention of Polyvinyl Records. Their debut eponymous album featured the breakout single “Archie, Marry Me” which embodies much of Alvvays’s style and voice, a dazzling blend of melancholic yet upbeat sounds. Alvvays know what they do best, sticking true to their own brand of indie pop, delivering a truly unique and unforgettable sound and presence.

Be sure to catch one of the three shows Alvvays has cooked up for Brooklyn this fall. Snail Mail and Hatchie will support all three shows, rounding out the night and ensuring an unforgettable show.
