Cardi B Is the First Female Rapper To Have Two Number One Songs

For the past year, Cardi B has been one of the most dominant forces in popular music, and the rapper has just notched another massive hit in the form of the single “I Like It” has reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. As reported by Pitchfork, this latest chart success makes Cardi B the first female rapper to score two #1’s on the Hot 100, quite a stunning achievement considering the incredible amount of impressive female rappers that came before Cardi B. Musically speaking, “I Like It” is a sweet combination of Cuban-style beats and some sultry singing from Colombian singer J Balvin, with Cardi B delivering some particularly dirty rhymes. Her first number one came in the form of the sizzling “Bodak Yellow,” which topped the charts earlier this year.

Since emerging from the underground hip-hop scene a few years ago with a highly regarded mixtape, Cardi B has developed into one of the most popular artists in the country, continuing to gain fans on a daily basis. Her debut record, Invasion of Privacy continues to set streaming records and from the looks of it, the album will continue to spin off successful singles for the rest of the year.
