Interpol @ Madison Square Garden 2/16

Nearly a year after their global 15th anniversary tour of the critically acclaimed album Turn On the Bright Lights, Interpol makes their long anticipated return. The band treated fans last month with a new single, “The Rover”, an August 24th release date for their sixth album Marauder, and an upcoming world tour.

The New York indie rockers, signed to Matador Records, remain a staple of today’s rock scene, pumping out moody, captivating hits like “Obstacle 1”, “Rest My Chemistry”, and “Evil”, continually catching critics’ eyes and maintaining a steadfast fanbase. With nearly two decades under their belt, Interpol doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. “Marauder is a facet of myself…He taught me a lot, but it’s representative of a persona that’s best left in song. In a way, this album is like giving him a name and putting him to bed,” said frontman Paul Banks of Marauder. With an esteemed legacy to live up to, the band’s newest single, “The Rover”, satisfies through its delivery of punchy, tight melodies and haunting lyrics. If it’s any indication of what’s to come on Marauder, it seems like long time fans are in luck.

Interpol returns to New York City after performing Turn On the Bright Lights in its entirety last September to a sold-out crowd at Forest Hills Stadium. Interpol’s return to their native New York is one not to be missed, with stellar supporting acts of Car Seat Headrest and Snail Mail.
