Hellfest Open Air festival 2019 has announced a preliminary lineup for the 2019 event, which takes place next June 21-23 in Clisso, France. The PRP reports artists slated to play the festival include Slayer, Manowar, Carcass, Mass Hysteria and Dropkick Murphys.

The premiere metal festival traces its origins to Fury Fest, which was held from 2002-2005. In 2006, the festival was renamed Hellfest and has since seen a steady rise in attendees. In 2006, the festival hosted 22,000 visitors, and by 2017 the festival boasted 55,000 tickets sold per day.

2018 Hellfest, which took place June 22-24, featured an extensive list of legendary acts including Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Marilyn Manson, Deftones, Joan Jett and many more. During June 23 performance by headliner Avenged Sevenfold, Billboard reports the group paid tribute to Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul, who passed away in Las Vegas on June 22.

The band further honored the fallen metal hero in a Facebook post that said: “You were warm and engaging. Our friendship lasted for many years and eventually resulted in a killer rendition of ‘Mouth for War’ at the Revolver Golden Gods, a career highlight.” The band went on to say, “Vegas will never be the same without you. Dallas will never be the same. Metal will never be the same. We have been lucky enough to meet some of our idols and call them friends. You were one of the greatest of all time and a great friend. Today we mourn.”

The 2019 Hellfest teaser video features Slayer declaring Hellfest will host the band’s final French show of their farewell tour. More than 140 additional acts are expected to be announced in the coming months.
