Tecate Mexico Metal Fest III has announced the lineup for the 2018 festival including performances by Municipal Waste, Scour, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death and many more.
According to the festival website, The metal gathering is in its third year and will take place October 6 in the Esplanade of the Sultans Stadium, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
The all-ages event will host more than 12 hours of continuous, bone shattering riffs with the full lineup as follows: Accept, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Destruction, Obituary, Dark Funeral, Municipal Waste, Scour, The Faceless, Azrael, Maligno, Tulkas, Jet Jaguar, Lust, Evil Entourage, The Architect of Nightmares and Caelaluz.
Municipal Waste, one of the headliners, formed in Richmond Virginia in 2001, and just finished their East Coast tour on June 17th in Rhode Island. The group has previously released six studio albums including Waste ‘Em All (2003), Hazardous Mutation (2005), The Art of Partying (2007), Massive Aggressive (2009), The Fatal Feast (2012) and most recently, Slime and Punishment (2017).
In an interview with Invisible Oranges, frontman and Iron Reagan member Tony Foresta spoke about the modern thrash genre, saying, “I think there’s a lot more of it now than when we started. I think when we were a band it was kind of like almost a novelty to be a thrash band. People almost thought we were a joke band because it was so ridiculous and there weren’t any new bands playing that sort of music. I think it’s a lot more respected now. People just said, ‘Oh, well, this new thrash wave’s gonna die,’ or whatever. They just didn’t really take a lot of those bands seriously. But I think we kind of survived that whole thing just with being around for so long.”
Metal supergroup Scour, also headlining the festival, includes members Phil Anselmo (Pantera/Down/Superjoint), John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Chase Fraser (Animosity, Decrepit Birth) and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index). According to Revolver, the group, who formed in 2015, released their debut EP Gray followed by their second EP Red, in August 2017.
