Pointu Festival Announces 2018 Lineup Featuring Oh Sees, Suuns and Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Pointu Festival has announced the 2018 lineup featuring Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Suuns, Thee Oh Sees and more. The festival will take place July 7 & 8 on Gaou Island, Six-Fours-Les-Plages, France.

According to the festival website,  the explosive lineup also includes Carpenter Brut, Fidlar, The Soft Moon, Spring King, Deap Vally, Sleaford Mods, Fu Manchu and Flashing Teeth.

The indie event features Canadian Suuns, who are currently touring in support of their new album Felt, released in March 2018. According to mxdwn, the record was cut in five sessions at Breakglass studios and mixed by St. Vincent producer John Congleton. The band’s drummer, Liam O’Neill recently spoke about the album, saying, “It was done in very short spurts. It was four days here, take off a few months to clear our heads, four days next month, so that was easy too — we could have our lives. Recording Hold/Still was very much like our lives were on hold. We were in this tiny world for a really long time. Whereas with this, our worlds were still open.”

Godspeed You! Black Emperor, also headlining the event, formed in Montreal, Quebec in 1994, and have six studio albums including their most recent, Luciferian Towers, released in 2017. The dark ambient group recently spoke with The Guardian about their band identity, saying, “We’re a band. We’re not ‘just a band,’ we’re a band. Us against the world, yeah? Like so many other poor suckers before us. Bands get chewed up in the gears before the rest of the world does. And then bands sing pretty songs while they [they] get chewed up that way.”
