Members of As I Lay Dying Share Video Discussing Why They Reunited with Tim Lambesis

Rock-band As I Lay Dying have released a 31-minute video discussing why the band decided to give another go around with frontman Tim Labesis. in 2014, Labesis pled guilty to attempting to hire hitman to kill his now ex-wife and was sentenced to six years in prison. In the new video via the PRP, each member of the band spoke about how they felt. Lambesis opened the discussion, stating “So there’s, there’s a lot of awareness of things that happened very recently in music and stuff. And then last year there’s an awareness of the public apology in my expression of remorse.” He goes on to say that he first reached out to fellow bandmates Jordan and Josh. “…I reached out to them in an email a long time ago and the first individual conversations we had were mainly me listening so that I could better express my apology for the ways that everything… Like I guess what the concept I talked about, the ripple effect.”

Once Lambesis was released from prison, band members and fans were curious to see what the future of the band would be. Guitarist Phil Sgrosso stated “So when I heard that you were getting out of jail. All of us were just on edge. Our community was on edge of just like ‘What is this guy going to be up to, now?’ The mutual feeling from the band members was resentment towards Lambesis and are slowly progressing to let go of the situation. According to the PRP, Shadows Fall’s lead singer Brian Fair also chimed in on Lambesis return. In the article, Fair mentioned that he addressed the issue in two songs called “Downpour” and “Serpent’s Tongue.” The return of As I Lay Dying with Lambesis is still not sitting well with Fair. He states “Their current revival has been tough to digest. I do believe in second chances but that doesn’t guarantee forgiveness or redemption. Those have to be earned with deeds and not words. I guess time will tell.”

The band recently released their new track “In My Own Grave” and put on their first show in five years last Saturday in San Diego, CA. Check out some of the footage below.
