Electronic group The Glitch Mob have announced their partnership with TheWaveVR, a virtual reality music platform, to feature music from the band’s third record, See Without eyes, in an upcoming live stream.
On June 21 at 7:00 p.m. PST Glitch Mob fans will have the opportunity to experience the album on the interactive platform through any Oculus Rift or HTC Vive VR headset via TheWaveVR’s free app. The show will be live streamed on TheWaveVR’s Facebook page, while the looped version will be accessible after the live broadcast has ended.
Glitch Mob, formed in Los Angeles in 2006, consists of edIT (Edward Ma), Boreta (Justin Boreta) and Ooah (Josh Mayer). The unique electronic group have released three studio albums including Drink the Sea (2011), Love Death Immortality (2014) and See Without Eyes (2018), which took the #1 spot on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart for two straight weeks.
TheWaveVR democratizes the ability to experience and engage with music while socializing via the platform and recently closed a $6 million series A funding round. Glitch Mob said of their upcoming show, “TheWaveVR and Strangeloop Studios have masterfully crafted a new dimension to the album, and we’re beyond excited for people to take the ride. ‘See Without Eyes VR’ is an entirely new way to experience the music—as a full-body immersive journey,”
Adam Arrigo, TheWaveVR CEO and co-founder, also discussed the new Glitch Mob show, saying, “This show expands upon what we’ve learned from doing several others, but goes much deeper into environmental storytelling and interactive design.” He goes on to say, “Part film, part concert and part art installation, the show explores themes fundamental to immersive technology, such as the relationship between isolation and social interaction in the digital world. It’s far and away our most ambitious endeavor to date.”
