Texas Thrash metal group Power Trip is sure to jack heartrates and spike blood pressure with the release of their new single, “Hornet’s Nest,” via Adult Swim Singles Program.
The high velocity track runs an ambitious four minutes and 39 seconds, and continuously ramps up the intensity with powerful vocals, fierce drumming and potent guitars. Stereogum says the production is “crisp and merciless,” and “make sure you feel those bass drum hits in your ribcage when you play it loud. (You should play it loud.)”
Power Trip formed in Dallas, Texas, in 2008 and consists of Riley Gale (vocals), Chris Ulsh (drums), Chris Whetzel (bass), Blake Ibanez (guitar) and Nick Stewart (guitar). In 2013, the group released their first studio album, Manifest Decimation, followed by Nightmare Logic in 2017. The group also released a compilation album titled Opening Fire: 2008-2014 to compile additional tracks.
Last year, Loudwire spoke with vocalist Riley Gale to discuss the group’s style. “I think we’re easily accessible — we’re just five guys up there raging as hard as we can. We aren’t reinventing the wheel, nor did we ever set out to. I always said, ‘Put us in a room with people who simply appreciate aggressive music and they’ll leave enjoying our band.’ I think we do what we do well enough to impress anyone who likes or liked heavy music. “
