Dwight Yoakam, the singer-songwriter who is known for his pioneering style of country music, took to the airwaves recently as he launched a brand new Sirius XM channel called “Dwight Yoakam & The Bakersfield Beat.” The purpose of the new channel was to debut two brand new songs, “Pretty Horses personally,” and “Then Here Came Monday.” These two songs mark the first time that the multiple Grammy Award-winning star released new music since his acclaimed bluegrass album Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars back in 2016.
Yoakam wrote and produced “Pretty Horses” by himself while “Then Here Came Monday” was co-written by Yoakam alongside Chris Stapleton. Yoakam also co-produced the track with frequent collaborator Chris Lord-Alge. The release of these songs will kick off a series of new music by Yoakam that will be shared throughout the coming year.
