Wild Nothing Announces New Album Indigo For August 2018 Release

Los Angeles based indie pop/dream pop act Wild Nothing (also known as Jack Tatum) has announced his upcoming fourth solo record, titled Indigo, due August 31 via Captured Tracks. The new record will be followup to Tatum’s great 2016 LP Life of Pause.

Speaking about the new album, Tatum said that he was aiming for a “classic studio record” kind of sound when he was composing and recording Indigo.

“I wanted it to sound like a classic studio record, as close as I could get it there,” said Tatum. “It just boils down to me wanting to fit into some larger narrative, musically, in terms of these artists I love. I think about how my music will age. Ideas of ‘timeless’ are going to be different — so if Indigo is not timeless then it’s at least ‘out of time.'”

According to the press release, Tatum initially made demos of the cuts exclusively using software straight from his computer before recording the album with a full band. He hired drummer Cam Allen and guitarist Benji Lysaght from albums like Father John Misty’s I Love You, Honeybear and the recent Amen Dunes record Freedom, while Tatum himself played bass. Tatum also produced and mixed the record with Jorge Elbrecht, who has produced records for Ariel Pink, Gang Gang Dance, and Japanese Breakfast.

In addition to the album announcement, Wild Nothing has unveiled the album’s lead single “Letting Go.” Plus, he announced a North American tour spanning mid-October to mid-November.
