Father John Misty Shares Stop-Motion Video for “Please Don’t Die”

Sardonic, indie folk singer-songwriter extraordinaire, Father John Misty has just unveiled an animated new music video for single “Please Don’t Die.”

The stop-motion clip was created by Chris Hopewell, the genius behind Radiohead’s “Burn the Witch” video, Run the Jewels’ “Don’t Get Captured” video, Misty’s previous “…Revolution” video, as well as many more. The visual itself follows the singer getting sucked into the underworld to, quite literally, confront death.

By the end of the video, as Mr. Tillman himself is almost dragged into the depths of his own grave within this hellscape by a seemingly unstoppable horde of zombies, he is saved at the last possible moment by some angel/astronaut-esque saviors. They ascend with him beyond the land of the living, far up and into the sky.

“Please Don’t Die” is the latest offering from Joshua Tillman’s upcoming album God’s Favorite Customer, which will be dropping this Friday, June 1 via Sub Pop/Bella Union. God’s Favorite Customer also includes the previous singles “Mr. Tillman,” “Just Dumb Enough to Try,” and “Disappointing Diamonds Are the Rarest of Them All.”
