The Internet Announce New Album Hive Mind and Shares New Song “Come Over”

Los Angeles based neo-soul/alternative R&B outfit the Internet have just announced their upcoming fourth record titled Hive Mind, and have already started building up the hype with a confident new single called “Come Over.”

Hive Mind will be following the band’s excellent 2015 breakthrough album Ego Death, which really brought the band into more of the public eye. Before “Come Over,” however, they did share their lead single, a song titled “Roll (Burbank Funk)” last month along with a cameo heavy music video (featuring the likes of Tyler, the Creator, Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, Mac DeMarco, and many other artists).

The band, consisting of vocalist Syd (who first came to light as a member of the SoCal hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All), producer Matt Martians, bassist Patrick Paige II, drummer Christopher Allan Smith and excellent guitarist Steve Lacy, released their debut record Purple Naked Ladies in 2011 before following it up with 2013’s Feel Good. Hive Mind is due for a July 20th release via Columbia Records.

Martians has said of the album title, “If you google what ‘hive mind’ means, it’s basically a collective ego, a collective mind. You know, when people are together they have a collective mindset. And I think when we’re together we all have a common goal, and we move in the same direction.”

This togetherness became a theme across the record. “After making a few songs we realized that we really want to use this album to live by example and promote camaraderie amongst young black people,” said Syd regarding the upcoming record. “We realized that we’re the only band of our kind. And we want to really solidify ourselves as that, as the best.”
