After two years, Papa M has announced a brand new album titled A Broke Moon Rises, set to be released August 17. This is his first album since 2016’s critically acclaimed Highway Songs, calling it “an incredibly symbolic work of David Pajo’s life occurrences.” A new song, titled “Walt’s” has also been released. The new song’s slide guitars and the gentle sound is a great listen from beginning to end. Check it out below.
In a press release, the new album will contain five songs and “will find David focusing his technique in unknown directions, to find out what he can do with them.” It is also being described as a “meditative in the most active sense, with the unquiet mind leaping from place to place in a static, spartan theater. All of which action makes hypnotic music, perfect for listening.” The album title was inspired by Pajo’s son’s view of a half-moon, which helped the record itself with a certain feeling.

Also known as David Pajo and the guitarist of the group Slint, Pajo attempted suicide in 2015. He tried to hang himself after posting a suicide note on his blog that was mainly focused on his ex-wife. Pajo also compared Smashing pumpkins lead Billy Corrigan to President Donald Trump. Pajo and Corrigan were once in a band called Zwan and stated the Trump and Corrigan have the same “Bully-mentality” Pajo stated “I’m sure Billy loves this guy. I know he’s a Trump supporter. He has to be. He’s got millions of dollars. He’s got that ego. He loves the ‘bully mentality.’ I don’t keep up with him, and I don’t wanna talk bad about him. But I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he was a Trump supporter. In fact, I’d be more surprised if he wasn’t.”
