Valley Queen Cruise the Streets of Los Angeles in New Video for “Supergiant”

Soulful group Valley Queen has released the new single and accompanying video, “Supergiant,” from their upcoming debut album Supergiant, due out July 13.

The album concept metaphorically connects the human experience with the luminous and immense supergiant star. Paste reports how Natalie Carol, the groups lead vocalist and guitarist, synthesized the concept.  “The song ‘Supergiant’ is about how we’re all made up of the same stuff as stars, and I liked the idea of tying the whole album together with that metaphor. It takes all the drama you hear on the record—the aggressive, chaotic moments, and the more beautiful or quieter moments—and puts it all into a more galactic perspective.”

Carol goes on to discuss looking at the painful aspects of life through a more comprehensive lens, saying, “It can be really painful and isolating to go through something that doesn’t really look like anybody else’s experience but your own,” Carol says. “But ultimately that’s part of the beautiful orchestration of being alive—instead of trying to go around that experience, you need to go fully into it.”

With its folk-rock aesthetic, “Supergiant,” recalls a time when the art of songwriting and the nuance of a lilting voice was paramount while the video stylishly showcases a seventies aesthetic and features the group cruising through the streets of Los Angeles.
