Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One of Tuxedo collaborated with the Zapp band for the funk anthem,”Shy” which they recently performed on Conan O’ Brien with dancing roller girls, glittery polyester, and an abundance of tuxedos. The two groups originally released the feel-good song in March and now have revealed the music video. The video is a complete throwback, a hall full of talented roller-dancers spinning to the disco beat, as the band performed on a stage in the signature tuxedos. It’s simple but fun, and the director rightly places a lot of emphases on the skaters, who in addition to being immensely talented, look like they are having the time of their lives. “Shy” is the perfect summer song for barbecues and block parties.
Tuxedo said about the video, “I wish this club really existed. Thanks to the Troutman family for making dreams come true.” Tuxedo have released two albums (Tuxedo and Tuxedo II) to critical praise from multiple media outlets.
