All My Friends Music Festival Announces 2018 Lineup Featuring Jamie xx, M.I.A. and Jhené Aiko

In its inaugural year, All My Friends music festival has announced its lineup featuring headliners Jamie xx, M.I.A. and Jhene Aiko. The festival will take place in downtown Los Angeles at the outdoor venue, ROW DTLA, Saturday, August 18, and Sunday, August 19.

The venue, which is located in the Industrial Arts District and was the former home of American Apparel, will host three stages. The unique, industrial setting, coupled with stellar lineup speaks to a modern take on festivals.

British musician and DJ, Jamie xx, featured in the festival, has been a mainstay in the electronic and dance music scene since 2005 when he joined The xx with schoolmates Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Baria Qureshi. Since then, the artist has been honored with a 2016 Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album for his solo album In Colour, and a 2015 Mercury Prize nomination.

British-Sri Lankan singer and activist M.I.A. is also included in the lineup. M.I.A. has released five studio albums including Arular (2005), Kala (2007), Maya (2010), Matangi (2013), and her most recent, AIM (2016). In recent years, the artist has been the subject of political turmoil (she was sued by the  NFL for $16.6 million and encountered issues with the U.S. State Department regarding her visa). In an interview with Rolling Stone, while promoting album AIM, the singer spoke about her propensity for pushing political buttons. “I end up in the eye of the storm all the fucking time! I don’t know how. I’m dealing with that now. Like: Why, why, why? I’m going to have to really change my life to know the answer.”

The two-day All My Friends Festival will also host a slew of other acts including: RL Grime, Gucci Mane, Armand Van Helden, Abra, Anna Lunoe, Barclay Crenshaw, Chris Lake, Chris Lorenzo, Claptone, Cut Chemist, Destructo, Deux Twins, Goddollars, Golf Clap, Grandson, Jason Bentley, Jubilee, Justin Martin, LA Leakers, Little Boots, Mike B, Monte Booker, Moon Boots, DJ Nu-Mark, Pete Tong, Phlegmatic Dogs, Ravyn Lenae, Sheck Wes, Smokepurpp, Soul Clap, Split Secs, Them Jeans, Wax Motif and Yo Gotti.
