Singer Juliet Simms has released the intimate video for her new song, “Take Me,” which explores the artist’s emotional journey with her husband, musician Andy Biersack. The song is the artist’s first release in over two years and comes following the 2016 EP, From The Grave.
Simms began her career with the group Automatic Love Letter, which formed in Tampa, Florida, in 2005. In addition to Simms on lead vocals and guitar, the group consisted of her brother, Tommy Simms, on lead guitar, and Daniel Currier on drums. Loveletter released two studio albums including Truth or Dare (2010) and The Kids Will Take Their Monsters On (2011).
In 2012, Simms joined the cast of NBC’s The Voice and went on to place second that season. According to Pop Crush, her searing cover of The Beatles’ “Oh Darling” led TV coach Cee Lo Green to proclaim, “You don’t need no smoke, no mirrors, nothing. All you need is that voice,”
Her voice is center stage on the new emotionally charged track, “Take Me,” and Simms recently discussed her writing process with Pop Crush saying, “I wrote it last year. I always write about real experiences and true love and heartbreak, but the one thing I haven’t really gotten to write about is that really, really, really deep connection you build when you’ve been in a relationship for as long as I have been with my husband.” Simms goes on to say, “So ‘Take Me’ is about the trials you’re put through as a couple, and how that can either result in a breakup or a stronger bond and lifting each other up.”
The singer also spoke about an incident in 2016, when a video of her intoxicated on a plane came to light: “I went, fuck that day. That’s not who I am, and that’s what I’m going to keep telling everybody for the rest of my life by example, by action, by not drinking,”
For now, according to pfa, Simms is focused on her new album with producer John Feldmann. Check out the new video for “Take Me” below:
