YOB has released a powerful, uplifting title track “Our Raw Heart” off of their upcoming album of the same name set to be released on June 8th. Our Raw Heart follows 2014’s critically acclaimed Clearing The Path To Ascend. Rolling Stone said it “makes perfect bedfellows of volume and beauty, pain and transcendence.” “Our Raw Heart” is the second song released from the album, following “The Screen” released last month.
In a press release, singer and guitar player of the band Mike Scheidt discussed the new 14-minute song. Scheidt states “The album title hit me early that year, so I knew the lyrics would be informed by it.” Scheidt recently had intestinal surgery that was life or death. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he says “It almost seems trite to say it was humbling, but I felt this heightened state of support and connection to people around the world who gave to me in many different ways so I could keep my head above water—whether it was encouragement, financial support or spiritual support.”
The band will also be heading out on the road this summer, adding additional west coast dates to the tour. Check out the tour dates below:
