Gang Gang Dance released their new song “J-Tree,” the second single from their long-awaited second album Kazuashita. Brian DeGraw is a co-founder of the song “J-Tree”. Shiyé Bidziil, one of the key members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe who stood against the Dakota Access Pipeline being built through sacred Native American burial lands, was pivotal to “J-Tree”.
Gang Gang Dance is formed by Lizzi Bougatsos, Brian DeGraw and Josh Diamond. The band creates music that blurs the lines between New York art and music scenes. The band’s first album Eye Contact was released in 2011. The band was joined by drummer Ryan Sawyer and Jorge Elbrecht.
The band announced that they will be performing a special run of shows with Deerhunter in Japan in October. The shows will take place in Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo. Kazuashita is set to be released on June 22 and a full tour later in 2018 is also planned for the band. According to mxdwn the band released their first single in seven years titled “Lotus” on April 15th. The song switches between the languages and syntax of Japanese and English.
