2018 has been an incredible year for Courtney Barnett as she has been releasing a ton of new music whilst touring in support. Through a recent press release, Barnett has announced the release of a new track titled “Sunday Roast,” which comes off her album Tell Me How You Really Feel out May 18th via Mom + Pop Records. “Sunday Roast was also apart of Courtney Barnett’s Record Store Day special in which she put the aforementioned piece onto a beautiful 12 inch vinyl with her other single “City Looks Pretty.”
In support of the new single, there is also a live video f Barnett playing “Sunday Roast’ below.
The video begins with her discussing her influences for the newly released single which seem to stem from the common theme of friends/friendship. As the video moves forward, we see Barnett sing the song while she plays a gorgeous fender telecaster, possibly vintage.
Although this is technically just a video of Barnett playing her new single, there is much more to it in that the video also acts as somewhat of a song tutorial to the mind of Courtney Barnett. The cinematographer always seems to make sure that the audience is seeing which open chords are being played for the song. Although there are some very small guitar licks in the song, the video does highlight the two chords played, which appear to be G/C and C/F respectively.
Barnett is also going on a very large tour in support of the album Tell Me How You Really Feel. Check out her whole tour list below.
