Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit Has Been Reported Missing

Scott Hutchison, of Scottish Indie band Frightened Rabbit, has been reported missing, according to Brooklyn Vegan. Concern for the singer began on May 8 at 10:50 PM (Scotland time) after he tweeted: “Be so good to everyone you love. It’s not a given. I’m so annoyed that it’s not. I didn’t live by that standard and it kills me. Please, hug your loved ones” He went on to tweet, “I’m away now. Thanks.”

The alarming tweets prompted band members to tweet, “We are worried about Scott, who has been missing for a little while now. He may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now. Please could anyone with any information on his whereabouts please contact Police Scotland (101).”

Frightened Rabbit formed in 2003 and has released five studio albums including Sing the Greys (2006), The Midnight Organ Fight (2008), The Winter of Mixed Drinks ((2010), Pedestrian Verse (2013) and Painting of a Panic Attack (2016).

In an interview with gigwise, Hutchison described the 2016 album, Painting of a Panic Attack: “I don’t know if it’s any more personal or any more cathartic than anything else I’ve done. There’s a lot less cacophonous bluster on this album and a lot more beauty in the music, and it’s a more pensive listen. This is one of the first interviews I’ve done and I’m still thinking through what these songs mean to me.”

According to BBC, Hutchison was last seen when he left the Dakota Hotel in South Queensbury. Inspector Graeme Dignan released a statement: “We are keen to locate Scott as soon as possible to ensure he is safe and well and would urge anyone who can assist with our ongoing inquiries to come forward. If you believe you have seen him since the early hours of Wednesday morning or know where he currently is, then please contact police immediately. I’d also urge Scott to get in touch with family, friends or with police, to let us know he is alright.”

Members of Frightened Rabbit, including Hutchison, recently formed the band Mastersystem and released their debut album Dance Music, according to mxdwn. Additionally, the band did a 10th anniversary tour for the album, The Midnight Organ Flight.

UPDATE (5/10): Paste reports Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison remains missing. After reviewing CCTV footage of Hutchison leaving the Dakota Hotel in South Queensbury, Scotland at 1 a.m. (U.K. time) police have identified two individuals seen on the footage that may have information regarding Hutchison’s whereabouts.

Chief Inspector Alan Carson released a statement regarding the investigation (obtained by journalist James Matthews) that urges anyone with pertinent information to come forward and that “officers are keeping an open mind as to Scott’s direction of travel. It is important to stress that at this time we do not know definitely where Scott has headed after leaving the Dakota Hotel and the assistance of the public is therefor vital to help us with this
investigati [sic].”
