65daysofstatic post-apocalyptic aesthetic continues with the band’s release of a short, disembodied Instagram video. The video features a rapid postmodern black and white montage and a pulsing, progressive soundtrack. The experimental video a la David Lynch uses a rhythmic, pulsating beat that creates a hypnotic, time-altering effect.
65days, formed in Sheffield, England in 2001 and is known for their electronic, progressive sound. The band has released 5 albums including The Fall of Math (2004), One Time for All Time (2005), The Destruction of Small Ideas (2007), We Were Exploding Anyway (2010), and Wild Light (2013).
Additionally, 65 days continued their journey into science fiction territory by composing the soundtrack for the game No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe in August 2016. Distorted Sound magazine said the album is “one that melds both sweeping cinematic strings with Blade Runner-esque futurism to great effect.” In an interview with M magazine 65’s Joe Shrewsbury talked about writing the soundtrack: “Certainly No Man’s Sky has pushed us away from our usual sound a bit, mainly because the second record is much more reflective. It doesn’t care quite as much about fitting into an album format and so it can do stuff that’s more repetitive and more zoned out.”
