Photos: Giorgio Moroder Live at The Globe Theater, Los Angeles

Legendary film composer and master of the dance floor, Giorgio Moroder, celebrated his 78th birthday at the Globe Theater. Moroder is a legend in the musical world. His production and songwriting have gained him critical acclaim and it even won him an Academy Award for the soundtrack to Midnight Express featuring the classic track “The Chase.” Some of his most notable soundtracks include Scarface and Metropolis. Since then, Giorgio has produced some of the best dance music of the ’70s and ’80s alongside artists such as Debbie Harry, Donna Summer and David Bowie. His sound is a staple in the world of dance music. Daft Punk paid homage to him on their Random Access Memories album.

It was only fitting to celebrate his birthday with a big dance party at The Globe Theater.  Throughout the night, many of Moroder’s past work was played with scenes from his movies projected on the background. Legendary musician Roy Ayers performed with his band before Moroder would take the stage. Moroder’s set featured many of his iconic songs alongside current dance music.

Mauricio Alvarado: I've been a concert photographer for the past 5 years. My work has been featured on various music magazines and websites. Some of the bands I've photographed are Yes, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Santana, and many more. I'm obsessed with 70's Progressive Rock music. I enjoy photographing bands that I grew up listening to. I'm also a big vinyl record collector since I was in High School. I always enjoy taking my albums to shows and getting them signed by the bands.
