Ghost delighted fans with a “secret show” May 4, at Los Angeles club, The Roxy, according to theprp. During the Friday night show, ghost debuted two new tracks, “Faith” and “Dance Macabre,” from the bands upcoming album Prequelle, due out June 1.
The Swedish heavy metal band, which formed in Linkoping in 2006, has been steadily releasing new tracks from their new record. Mxdwn reported the band’s release of the track, “rats,” in April as well as the official Prequelle tracklist. According to loudwire, the evolution of the track “Rats” was described by vocalist Tobias Forge: “Specifically, when I was a kid, there was a concert called the Moscow Peace Festival. It was broadcast on TV. It’s one of those moments that I remember so clearly, I was eight years old. Ozzy Osbourne opened with ‘I Don’t Know,’ and it’s such a fucking great opening track. This was in front of like 80,000 people, who went nuts. I wanted to have that feel with ‘Rats.’
The band’s theatrics continued with, according to mxdwn, the announcement that Papa Emeritus I, II and III were dead and Cardinal Copia would now lead the band. According to loudwire, Forge said, “If we just continued with Papa to Papa to Papa to Papa, that would grow very boring. That is a one-dimensional way of looking at this band. If I had just done that, Ghost would have gone on auto-pilot and it would have grown stale very quickly.”
The band continued to surprise audiences over the weekend, according to metal injection, with the release of “Faith” and “Dance Macabre,” at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium on May 5. All four songs released by the band over the weekend are an authentically heavy metal experience replete with powerful vocals and dense guitars. The band is currently on tour in North America in support of their new album, Prequelle, due June 1.
