Prefuse 73 Release Ambient Soul Song “Silver & Gold” Featuring James Tillman

Experimental glitch-hop producer Prefuse 73 (né Guillermo Scott Herren) has just released a new track titled “Silver & Gold,” featuring vocals from R&B/soul singer James Tillman.

Though Herren himself has become more associated with hip-hop and electronic psychedelic music over his decades long career, his upcoming record Sacrifices, on which “Silver & Gold” is found, will be a foray into a far more ambient, serene sonic aesthetic.

Prior to “Silver & Gold” was the lead single “Basinksitarian,” which was a similarly tranquil cut. Tillman’s voice on “Silver & Gold” is gentle and vast, spreading a layer of warmth across the ambience of the instrumental.

Before Sacrifices was the 2015 full-length Rivington Não Rio, and the two EPs Every Color of Darkness and Forsyth Gardens which also came out in the same year. Herren spent the next year focusing on a project titled Fudge, along with Boston rapper Michael Christmas, and then left his fans radio silent in 2017.

Sacrifices will be out May 25 via Lex Records. Check out “Silver & Gold” below.
