Beach House Show Further Evolution on New Song “Black Car”

Beloved American dream pop duo Beach House has just released a new single titled “Black Car,” off of their highly anticipated upcoming seventh record, aptly titled 7. “Black Car” is the fourth single from the new album so far, following up opener “Dark Spring,” “Lemon Glow” and “Dive.”

The hypnotizing, atmospheric song, is even more emotionally subdued and melodically subtle than their earlier singles, which is quite the achievement, to say the least. The deep rumbling of the bass line against the slightly irregular drum beat serve to create the backdrop to an existential crisis.

Following the May 11 release of the record, the Baltimore duo will be performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on May 16. Extensive tour dates have already been announced in support of the upcoming record, including two already sold-out shows at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles this August.

7 will be following up 2015’s critically acclaimed (though what Beach House album isn’t critically acclaimed) record Depression Cherry and the surprise-released Thank Your Lucky Stars from the same year. The duo did release compilation album titled B-Sides and Rarities featuring previously unreleased cuts from across their career, but 7 will be full of entirely new material.
