Mutoid Man Share Rip-Roarin’ New Cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Communication Breakdown”

Mutoid Man, the hard-rock power trip from Brooklyn that consist of Cave In’s Stephen Brodsky, Converge’s Ben Koller and bassist Nick Cageao released their sophomore album War Moans this past June. The album was part of Rolling Stone’s 20 best Metal albums of 2017. This past week, the supergroup shared track that sounded oddly familiar. “She’s a Mutoid Lady,” is the mutated cover of, you guessed it, Tom Jones’s classic song, “She’s a Lady,” which is part of their series of three covers that the band will be releasing in the coming months. Today, they revealed the second installment of the series with their mutated rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Communication Breakdown” with their cover called “Mutation Breakdown.”

This is not the first time that Mutoid Man gave fans covers of classic songs. Their time as a house band for the heavy metal-inspired “talk show” Two Minutes to Late Night had them take on Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Kesha’s “Bastards” alongside Royal Thunder singer Manny Parsonz. The trio, along with Baroness frontman John Baizley did a cover of the late Prince’s “Purple Rain.”

The trio is also gearing up to hit the road this summer for a North American tour to support their album, War Moans. They will be joined by the Armed (who also features Koller in their ranks) and Lazer/Wulf. Mutoid Man’s summer tour will kick off on May 6th in Concord, North Carolina and will see stops in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Chicago, Brooklyn and much more before wrapping up in Las Vegas on August 19th. Check out the band’s full itinerary below.
