Machinedrum Releases Chilled-Out New Song “Hype Up”

Machinedrum, a.k.a. Travis Stewart, deftly layers mellow synths and drums with his new track, “Hype Up.” The single comes just a week after the release of his remix of Chrome Sparks “What’s It Gonna Take.” Stewart’s last album, High Energy, released in 2016, received critical praise. According to Pitchfork, High Energy used guest vocalists Dawn Richards, MeLo-X and Jesse Boykins III to focus and weave smooth beats in a post-dubstep world.

The new single, “Hype Up”, according to exclaim, offers more relaxed and meditative take on the electronic pop genre, with its slower tempo mixed with glitchy drums. Machinedrum has had a prolific career, releasing his first album, Now You Know, on Merck Records. The artist is known for skillfully mixing styles in an innovative way and has subsequently, according to Wikipedia, released 10 albums as Machinedrum, and his single “She Died There,” was featured in the game Grand Theft Auto V. Listen to Machinedrum’s new track, “Hype Up,” below.
