Suge Knight Hit-and-Run Murder Trial Set for September 2018

Though the hip-hop world has its fair share of dramatic characters, few are as ridiculous as former Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight. Following his 2015 murder of Terry Carter, while on the set of the critically acclaimed film about N.W.A., Knight’s trial has finally been given a starting date for September 24.

Considering the murder itself is now three years old, it seems that the date is coming far later than normal. For most other cases, the date might have come earlier, but Suge Knight is no ordinary man. In a series of various unfortunate court events, the trial itself got delayed again and again.

Knight’s trial was initially scheduled for the beginning of this year, on January 8, but had to be pushed back. Apparently, members of Knight’s former defense attorneys, including Thaddeus Culpepper and Matthew Fletcher, were indicted for attempting to bribe witnesses – classic shenanigans.

The trial was rescheduled for April, but Knight had to be suddenly hospitalized, due to various “eye-related issues,” according to Knight’s sister Karen Anderson. Not only that, but Knight has gone through a verifiable stable of attorneys (He has gone through 15 lawyers so far during this case, according to the New York Daily News). His 16th attorney is now a state appointed one.

The murder charge followed an incident on the set of a promotional shoot for “Straight Outta Compton,” where Knight ran over both Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan with his truck, after a dispute. Sloan was heavily injured himself.

Interestingly, Knight is currently also facing two other sets of charges in addition to the murder case. Back in 2014, Knight and well-known comedian Katt Williams were charged with robbery for allegedly stealing photographer’s camera, and then just last summer, Knight was indicted for allegedly threatening F. Gary Gray, the director of the oh so controversial “Straight Outta Compton.”
