According to a recent press release, Bauhaus’ Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins have announced their debut album via the moniker Poptone and will tour in support of their first-ever album. Not only have this strong and talented duo decided to collaborate, but Ash’s daughter Diva Dompe will also be a part of the album as a full member and equal partner. As the press release states, “this album features a fresh live take on tracks they wrote for these three acts, as well as a cover, for their Part Time Punks show on KXLU FM in Los Angeles. Catch this 13-track offering as well as the band live during their 8-date West Coast tour, which kicks off May 10 in Solana Beach, CA and ends May 20 in Vancouver.”
Check out an interview of the trio below.
For those unfamiliar with Bauhaus, they were an English post-punk band formed in 1978 with Peter Murphy on vocals and various instruments, Kevin Haskins on drums, Daniel Ash on guitar, and David J on bass. Bauhaus is also known as one of the first Gothic rock groups (sorry The Cure) and were influences on genres such as psych, dub, glam rock, and funk. Good things, though, are usually short-lived as Bauhaus broke up with Peter Murphy going solo. Ash and Haskins, however, decided to keep working together as Tones on Tail and Love And Rockets. Now, they are working again with Diva Dompe on their new project Poptone.
Poptone will also go on a west coast tour to support their upcoming album, check out the tour dates and the track listing below.
