Evan Rachel Wood, the Golden Globe-nominated actress from Thirteen and True Blood, has been busy promoting the second season of HBO’s acclaimed show Westworld. These past few months have seen the actress not only promoting but advocating for Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights Acts. She has also taken time to perform at a tribute concert for Davie Bowie. Wood was asked to perform at a Celebrating David Bowie tour, which also featured several significant members of the late singer’s many bands, including keyboardist Mike Garson, guitarist Earl Slick, and guitarist Gerry Leonard.
It was during the February 28th performance at the Wiltern in L.A that the 30-year old actress had a minor flub of forgetting Bowie’s lyrics. Wood appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Thursday, April 19th, where she confessed the mistake.
“I sang ‘Moonage Daydream’ and ‘Five Years’ but forgot about half the song to ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide,'” she confessed to Fallon. “All my dreams were coming true. My life flashed before my eyes. It’s like if you love the Beatles and somebody went, ‘Hey, would you mind coming in and filling in for John Lennon? … And you went up onstage, and you’re like, ‘All you need is – ‘ That’s basically what happened. I know these songs like the back of my hand, but it just was all gone.”
Though the mistake was minor, she powered through with the help of the crowd. Wood’s appearance on the Tonight Show prompted Garson to tweet out his excitement on his social media account:
