Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5/Ozomatili) has released the self-directed video for the song “Home Away From Home” featuring Laura Darlington. This is the fourth single and video off of his new album Die Cut, his first album since The Audience Listening in 2006. The single follows after “Work My Mind,” “Madman,” and “Metalstorm”. Die Cut has been receiving rave reviews from critics, with Pitchfork saying “no matter how often cynics attempt to bury hip-hop turntablism as a dead form, McFadden– and a handful of worthy contemporaries– still make the music feel timeless,” and Consequence of Sound calling it “a true academic in the hip-hop world.”
Cut Chemist describes the video as “a young woman and a beetle who share a bond during what may be the end or beginning of a desolate and beautiful world,” as in the lyrics that begin with asleep and end with awake, transitioning from an end to a beginning of a new world.
Cut Chemist is currently on the road in North America, which will then head to Europe before concluding with a festival set at the Chalice Festival in Victorville, CA with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Bassnectar, Ludacris, and Curren$y. Check out the rest of Cut Chemist’s tour dates below:
