On April 2nd lead singer of Imagine Dragons, Dan Reynolds, announced the second annual Loveloud Festival. The Loveloud festival is meant to create a conversation about loving unconditionally, understand, accept, and support LGBTQ+ youth in our communities. AT&T is powering the festival. The Loveloud Festival is not the only initiative that promotes acceptance and safety for the LGBTQ youth. The company also supports the Trevor Project’s suicide prevention and crisis intervention service. Loveloud and AT&T hope that through music and inspiring messages to create a safe and accepting future for LGBTQ youth.
Last year, on August 26, 2017 in Orem, UT at Brent Brown Ballpark 17,000 concert goers attended the first Loveloud Festival. Performances were given by Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, Krewella, Nicholas Petricca of Walk the Moon (Acoustic), Joshua James, and Aja Volkman. The Loveloud Festival supported charities Encircle, Stand4Kind, The Trevor Project and Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).
The Loveloud Festival will be taking place this year on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Salt Lake City, UT at the Eccles Stadium. Performances for this year’s festival include Imagine Dragons, Zedd and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda along with Grace Vanderwaal, Neon Trees’ Tyler Glenn. Cameron Esposito, Stand-up comedian, actor and writer, will perform and emcee at the festival. Additional performers and speakers will be announced in the future. The festival hopes to raise $1 million dollars for local and national LGBTQ+ charities such as Encircle, the Tegan and Sara Foundation and the Trevor Project.
Tickets for the festival go on sale on go on sale Friday, April 6 at 10AM MST. The festival opens at 2pm and performances begins at 3:30pm. Tickets for the festival can be purchased HERE. Believer, a documentary created by Reynolds to be centered around the festival. At Sundance Film Festival 2018 Believer received runner up for the “Festival Favorite Award”. The documentary will premiere on HBO this June.
