Indie rock duo Wye Oak have released a new lyric video for the song “Lifer” which is off their upcoming release, The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs, which is set to drop in April. Musically speaking, “Lifer” rides a slick drum beat from Andy Stack over a shimmering series of guitar and piano lines while Jenn Wasner delicately sings over the top. Eventually, a harsh distorted guitar works its way into the mix, giving the song a gritty and unpredictable finale. The effect is a cinematic blend of indie rock and pop with plenty of jagged edges.

Wye Oak has become one of the most dependable bands in the indie rock scene and based on the sound of “Lifer” this new record promises to be just as good if not better than 2016’s excellent Tween.

Wye Oak just finished up a run of intimate tour dates last fall, and it looks like 2018 will be a big year for them.
