Simian Mobile Disco Cancel Tour After Member Jas Shaw Diagnosed with Rare Disease AL Amyloidosis

Electronic group Simian Mobile Disco were forced to cancel their tour after band member Jas Shaw was devastatingly diagnosed with the rare AL Amyloidosis. The band released the news through Twitter on March 26. The extremely rare AL Amyloidosis is a disease that affects the functions of organs and tissue. Shaw will likely undergo chemotherapy, as it is the typical approach to alleviating the symptoms.

Because Shaw will be receiving treatment for the incurable AL Amyloidosis, the band will have to cut their tour short. They will, though, perform a final “Murmurations” show on April 4th. The show will take place at the Barbican in London. Simian Mobile Disco’s hiatus will commence after the show.

Unfortunately, the remaining dates have been canceled:

6/07 – Chicago, IL @ Lincoln Hall

6/08 – Brooklyn, NY @ Elsewhere

6/14 – Seattle, WA @ Neptune

6/15 – San Francisco, CA @ The Independent

6/16 – Los Angeles, CA @ Teragram Ballroom

Fans of the band need not fear too much, though, as the band will drop their latest album Murmurations on May 11th. The 9-track studio album will ideally be enough to satisfy while the band goes on hiatus.
