The Sword Release Arcade Style Video for “Used Future” and Announce Spring 2018 Tour Dates

Austin-based doom metal band The Sword just released their sixth studio album, Used Future, which includes, as the press release states, “heavy grooves, soaring hooks, and epic instrumental interludes.” The record was produced by Tucker Martine (R.E.M., My Morning Jacket) and mastered by Brian Lacey (The Black Keys).

The second single and title track, “Used Future,” was released accompanied by a video-game styled music video. Playing out like an old arcade game, the title screen prompts for “new game” or “continue” before J.D. starts his desert quest vs. a robot skeleton. He later picks up the rest of the band along the way as they enter a speaker junkyard and fight a giant skull-faced spider with moves such as “face melter” and “polyrhythmic rush.” The video was made by Rooster Teeth.

As The PRP reports, along with the video comes the announcement of a third leg to their massive tour with King Buffao, The Shelter People, and now The Atomic Bitchwax. All over the U.S., the Sword will now be on tour from 3/23-6/29. Watch the video for “Used Future” and check out the upcoming tour dates below:
