Father John Misty, Thee Oh Sees, Shabazz Palaces and More to Play Granfalloon: A Kurt Vonnegut Convergence in Indiana

Fans of great literature and music will find their own personal Mecca at Indiana University Bloomington’s Granfalloon: A Kurt Vonnegut Convergence this May. The festival will be held at a series of venues in the small Indiana city, including the University’s library, Upland Brewing Company, The Bishop, The Bluebird, Rhino’s Youth Center, City Hall, and the Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center. What a better place to hold such festivities than a city in the author’s home state that has cultivated a strong reputation for its music scene?

The first day of music programming (Saturday) will feature performances by Father John Misty (solo), Voces Novae, Rodeola, and Damien Jurado. The second day of music (Sunday) will include pairings of artists at venues across the core of Bloomington: Noname and Baths at Rhino’s, Waxahatchee (solo) and Amy O at The Bishop, and Thee Oh Sees and Shabazz Palaces at The Bluebird.

As far as the Vonnegut-themed programming, there is Vonnegut the American, Vonnegut the Writer, Vonnegut the Philosopher, Vonnegut the Scientist, Vonnegut the Visionary and keynote speakers. Vonnegut, civic responsibility, and the Hoosier state is another enticing discussion that will be held on the third day of the festival. Later, there will be a stage reading of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater.
