Perry Farrell has some pretty ambitious plans for his Vegas project, which currently sits at a budget of over $100 million and is billed as an immersive 360-degree entertainment hub. According to Deadline the project is called Kind Heaven and is slated to open in 2019 at The LINQ Promenade in Vegas, where it will take up 100,000 square feet of space. The project will take visitors on a journey using RF technology, movie-inspired storytelling and wearable tech – billing that no two journeys will be the same.
Some publications noticed that in addition to the revelation that the project will contain five stages for musical performance, two of the bands mentioned as performing were Farrell’s bands, Jane’s Addiction and Porno For Pyros. However, there is a caveat that only some of the bands will be physically present and performing at Kind Heaven and others will be holographic.
While it’s tempting to hope this means a reunion for the long-dormant Porno For Pyros it remains to be seen whether they will be one of the groups to actually reunite and perform live at the venue itself. Farrell has already made it clear in a Las Vegas Review Journal article that there will be a hologram of himself at the venue so he doesn’t need to be physically present there. Additionally the article concludes with: “Kind Heaven will announce which bands will play at the attraction at a later date.”
Porno For Pyros is Farrell’s band post-Jane’s Addiction that included members Stephen Perkins, Peter DiStefano, Martyn LeNoble and even a quick stint from Mike Watt. Fans have clamored for a reunion but it’s been years since the band has performed together.
Even if Porno For Pyros end up just being holographic versions of themselves, Kind Heaven seems like the kind of attraction that cannot be missed when visiting Las Vegas. Between the stages featuring music (even if it’s a Zappa hologram) and the off-the-wall ideas that have been presented so far like virtual monkey fights (which of course can be gambled on) it’s something that can only exist in Sin City.
