Hot off the release of their first new album in 20 year Interiors, Quicksand are back with new music for 2018. The band has announced a special release for Record Store Day 2018, which is April 21, 2018 this year. They’ll release a three-song EP on 12″ vinyl titled Triptych Continuum.

Two of the songs on the album are of traditional length for a rock track while the middle track runs just 50 seconds. The album will be released on Epitaph, who released Quicksand’s comeback record in 2017. The b-side of the album features etching while side one runs 7:24 in length over the course of three tracks. The release is limited to 1300 copies, so be sure to hit your local record store for a chance to grab this 12″

Along with Fugazi, who featured members of Minor Threat and Rites of Spring, Quicksand is one of the most appropriate groups to be called “post-hardcore.” Walter Schreifels and company were formed from the ashes of seminal NYC hardcore groups like Gorilla Biscuits and Youth of Today. The band proved to be short-lived, with just a single EP and two LPs before they dissolved. Schreifels went on to form his “post-post-hardcore” band Rival Schools, who were swept up by major label Island Records for their debut LP. They released two more albums before calling it quits. In addition to Quicksand, Schreifels has been active with his garage-psych outfit Dead Heavens.
