Kurt Vile and his band, The Violators, have announced a run of summer tour dates, their first North American tour in over a year. Vile, along with Violators members Rob Laakso, Kyle Spence, and Jesse Trbovich will kick off their tour on June 13th in Morgantown, WV. The short set of shows in June will culminate at the Mountain Jam Festival on June 17th. Vile and the boys will pick back up again on July 10th as they make their way throughout Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky’s Forecastle Festival. Fans can check out the full set of tour dates below and can purchase their tickets when they go on sale this Friday, March 23rd.
This past year, Vile spent his time touring alongside Courtney Barnett in support of their collaborative LP, Lotta Sea Lice. That’s not all; Vile has been making his rounds on television by performing on the late night circuit including Conan and the Colbert Show. Vile performed on Colbert next to Barnett while covering the theme song to Squidbillies. He also was seen as an animated squirrel on HBO’s Animals, as a roadie on Portlandia and you know you’ve made it when you become an answer on Jeopardy. Besides collaborating with fellow indie rocker, Courtney Barnett, Vile has added Cyndie Lauper, J Mascis, Kim Gordon, Hope Sandoval, John Prine, John Cale, and Warpaint to the list of people he has worked alongside.
Vile released his sixth studio album, b’lieve i’m goin down…, on March 6, 2015, via Matador Records. It was produced by Vile and bandmate Rob Laakso and was considered a success. On the very same day that the album came out, a deluxe edition titled b’lieve i’m goin (deep) down…, was released featuring six additional tracks.
