Kate Nash has had a pretty eventful 2018. Her partially-kickstarter-funded new album Yesterday Was Forever is due out at the end of the month on March 30th, and she just finished shooting season two of GLOW, a Netflix show about the women of wrestling. “I want to be free to make the kind of art I believe in,” she stated of her work back in February.
Her last single, “Drink About You,” was about becoming obsessed with someone following a break-up, but her newest single, “Life in Pink,” follows Nash’s struggle with mental illness. “The concept of the video is balancing the sane and what I’m told are “insane” parts of my brain and how I think you need a balance of the 2 to really make it in this life,” she said in an official press release. “I need the bunnies in my brain and the wild parts of me that send me into the black holes and I also need the self care routine and to know when I’ve gone too far into space aka allowed my mental health issues to get the best of me,” she continues, “I couldn’t be me without both of these sides, but both sides in their extremes are negative. Somehow we have to meet in the middle, dance and laugh and be free and full of love.”
