Over the next bank holiday weekend, June 2-3-4, Dublin will host another edition of world renowned festival Forbidden Fruit. As explained on the official website, it will be an event that “combines music, art, fashion, food and simple good vibes”.
The event, which will be once again hosted by the Irish Museum of Modern Art, will see 6 different stages each with a wide range of genres and acts such as Bonobo, Justice and The War On Drugs.
Music, however, won’t be the only form of art throughout the weekend. Comedy, visual art and refreshing cocktails and delicious food will also be present to provide an unforgettable early summertime experience. All of which will be followed by after-parties in various locations around the city running until 3am over the weekend and featuring some of “Dublin’s best collectives joined by international guests off the festival line up”.
Most of the major artists summoned for the event have been very active in the recent past. Justice, who will hit the stage on Saturday alongside Glass Animals, Novelist and Mike D, has released a quite explicit music video for their song Pleasure (Live) last September. The video is a re edit of the song, which is taken from their latest album titled Woman.
The War On The Drugs, on the other hand, will perform on Monday alongside Thundercat, Spoon and Grizzly Bear. The group has released a new record titled A Deeper Understanding, which won a Grammy for Best Rock Album, defeating competitors such as Metallica, Queens Of The Stone Age and Mastodon, said Spin.
Bonobo will be the headliner on Sunday, supported by Vince Staple, Four Tet and Ross From Friends. The producer has recently shared a new EP titled Bambro Koyo Ganda last year. As Pitchfork reported, the title track, for which a music video has also been shared, already appeared on Bonobo’s latest release Migration. The artist has announced new fall tour dates as well.
